3 non-residential rehabilitation weeks per year. These rehabilitation weeks are for people who are not coping with hearing loss.&nbsp; Sudden or gradual, slight, or profound, hearing loss can have a traumatic effect, leading to depression, paranoia, and other mental health problems.&nbsp; <br />1:1 and family support for those with acquired hearing loss. This entails going to the family home, learning the family, children included about how we can hear some things and not others, if required teaching basic BSL so they can learn together, something they have not done for a long time. <br />Local Community Support Groups including Lip Reading.<br />Walking for Health. &nbsp;These are held every 2 weeks throughout the summer months. <br />Crafts. A diverse range of crafts from 3 different session providers. One of these is for people who have dual sensory loss.<br />Try Before You Buy Service supported by Sarabec, Hear4You and BT.&nbsp; DDS demonstrates hearing aid compatible phones, personal listeners, and other useful equipment in people&rsquo;s homes. <br />Tinnitus Support &ndash; 1:1 and Group Support available <br />Help with completion of benefit forms for those with hearing loss including PIP, AA etc.&nbsp; Our support worker has been very successful in supporting these claims as well as blue badge, bus passes etc.&nbsp; <br />Cochlear Implant (CI) Friendship Groups are held quarterly. These are for people who want to learn more about the procedure, those who have a CI, and the people on the CI program.<br />Assistance for those with BAHA aids <br />Approved battery distribution centre for those who have their hearing aids from Peterlee and Hartlepool NHS Trust<br />BSL Courses <br />Signposting Service to other organizations who may be able to help e.g. debt advisors, housing etc. <br />Training in deaf awareness and communication skills, bespoke sessions free to NHS staff<br />Social Events to bring people together with hearing loss e.g. subtitled film club etc.<br />Specialist Groups for those with dual sensory loss<br />Yoga/ Tai Chi<br />Specialist Group for those with balance problems.
